Unable to revert to prior version of GalCiv IV via Epic games launcher

I play GalCiv IV via Epic Games Launcher. No I didn't get a Steam key when Stardock offered it, I didn't see the need at the time (and I was playing Factorio at that point anyway). When I attempted to play GalCiv IV on Thursday evening (30th July) I was told by Epic Games Launcher that I needed to update in order to launch the game. I did. I was then told that my 28 hour saved game at v3.3 was incompatible with v4.0.

Epic Games Launcher does not have the function to run the game at a prior version as suggested for Steam. I believe the only option is to request a Steam Key to allow me to install GalCiv IV via Steam. I've done so via Stardock support ticket SSN-101697 and I've been told to start a thread here. So here it is.

My support ticket open with Stardock was closed by Stardock. I guess they're hoping that my creating this thread means I won't bother them any further. Which I suppose will be true if someone in the forums is able to provide me with a solution. No luck so far though.....
