In my copy of 4.0 with Expansion, the "Auto" and find features no longer work properly

I have 4.0 Insiders edition with all the DLC, testing with no mods. Playing today, I found that for any ship with a Auto move command, the ship will follow the command but the game will ignore the auto part of the command and require clicking skip to end it's turn.  

So, I trashed it for a fresh install. Then I deleted  the Federations and Empires DLC. It's still the same. I just commanded the Discovery to auto survey.  The ship followed the resulting pathway but then sat there requiring me to end it's turn.  Ships in the middle of a survey still require a skip command Sometimes, I've had to click 3 extra times to move the turn forward.  In just a 100 turn game, that hundreds of extra clicks.  

I hope this is not working as intended

That's really strange. I'm unable to reproduce this. Auto work as expected over here.

Did you try to rename your %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\ folder and let the game recreate it fresh ? You can then move the save games, and the other stuff back into the new folder. See if that fixes it for you.

Thank you so much Draver for responding and so fast.  I guess I did as you suggested by installing the basic build and then the 2.99 legacy build.  After playing around in 2.99 testing different things, the problem just went away.  The probes were exploring again etc. 4.0 seems fine now. There's a lot of clicking in all these games as everyone knows. Less is more and I know you guys are of like mind.  

 

So I'm fixed doing as you suggested.
