HardwareGeeks "Discovers" How To Skin Longhorn - Should We Tell Them About Wblinds?

I think it's kinda lame they wanna post an article like this at hardwaregeeks, how to skin an alpha version of an upcomnig OS release. Very few have got their hands on the pdc release or the other leaked builds. Besides, everyone knows Longhorn will be using some sort of svg-like interface, using xaml in avalon, the presentation layer. However, there will still be the ability to use Windows in classic mode as we know from XP. Longhorn won't use the old gray one, but XP's blue/luna/olive schemes. So in a way I guess the skins of today still will be usable in Longhorn, if they keep it in bmp format and don't convert it to the new one.

FYI...Just clicked on the link above and was notified by Spybot that it blocked "Avenue-A" which is listed as adware or spyware, from adding itself to my PC. Love that spybot!

Not only does it try and install spyware/adware, but the site then popped up it's own cheeky message pretending to have just "discovered" some spyware on my machine and offering to sell me something to remove it! I don't think I'll be going anywhere near the site again if that's their idea of advertising

Furan Has known how to do this for months now, but what they are doing is going to get broke in the next beta. The new GUI is going to be quite differant. But they can start form scratch I suppose.

Yeah...I missed that until I closed all my windows...the cheeky bugger was underneath them all...

I don't think we should tell them anything....

The method they describe is already broken by the current build of Longhorn.

The build they're dealing with is months old and involves bitmap replacement. Longhorn has since involved moving to vectors.

If you want to skin longhorn, your best bet is WindowBlinds.
