Win Xp wont load when i apply a bootskin

am I seeing double? Man, I really need some sleep

ok, lets start with the obvious... One thread per topic or you'll find yourself asking your questions in the back alley where no one will hear.. Now, to the issue at hand. Have you tried more than one bootskin? Which bootskin are you trying to use? What version of bootskin are you using? What OS are you on? You get the idea, a little more info would be nice.

Well I am having the same problems, 2 diffrent machines. Both are running XP home, one with all the latest updates (including SP-1) and one without. I have tried all the default screens that come with the program and aproximately 5 that have been downloaded from the skins off this site.

Each time you apply one and reboot, after the boot screen it freezes, and you have to restart in safe mode and put it back on default to diable it, then it will boot fine.

I have successfully tweaked the kernel, but with only 16 colors it's hard to get a good quality image so I figured I would try this program. I am NOT trying this program with a tweaked kernel, reverted to the original kernel before installing or using the bootskin program. Also only messed with the kernel on one machine.

it seems like there are a number of people having problems with the latest version of bootskin.. Maybe the random bootskin option is causing a problem..

You are aware that the current verison of bootskin only supports 16 colors also right now, right? As far as I know they are working on support for high-color but I'm sure the details of that are really messy. If at all possible try getting an older version of bootskin. Maybe contacting SD support and asking if they can provide an older build to see if the problem truly lies with the latest build of the program.

I've got the same issue going on. Boot up and freezes after the boot skin. Also boot skin shows up in black and white and horrible color. I've got an nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 graphics card. I don't get it?

Yep. Same thing is going on here. Windows looks like it's loading and then it goes black. Had to start in safe mode. Took several tries and it was, as of today the Bootskin. I disabled it and windows loaded up fine. What tomorrow brings, we will have to wait and see

Pritty easy to use, and it excepts most standard graphic files..

Sure, BootXP works fine if you want to hack your system files.

Then, when you try to remove it, good luck restoring your system properly.
