What if windows were translucent so that you could see the multiple windows you're working on at the same time? What if you could tack a note to yourself right on the Web page you're viewing? What if your CD or movie database became a 3D jukebox, where titles were joined with images to make finding what you want easier than ever?

I posted a link to this a couple of weeks or so ago. From the demonstration I watched, it looks very cool.
I'd be curious where they are on this. It seems like the demo was from some time last year.

Of course, Stardock could probably expand on WindowFX and do all this and more.

Besides, it's only on the Linux plateform for now. Maybe a Windows version some time in the future.

I have to agree...

So far, it's just more eye-candy IMHO.

I mean, who wants to put notes on the backs of web pages - seriously? It would seem more practical to me to be able to annotate files in a list as part of the filesystem - or like Opera which lets you annotate bookmarks with text descriptions.

Searching CD's by their picture? What a waste of computing power! What's wrong with a list?

Nothing in that demo seems like a revolution in GUI design.

I agree with you on that - I really dont want to look at my document in 3D - or to search for a song that way - I just want it fast..
Transparency, albiet a 'cool feature' , makes it difficlt to see the text
Of course, it would be nice to annotate the back of *cough* some *cough* web sites

Chris TH.... a GUI? Whats wrong with the old dos code?

Would be great for touch screens IMHO.
