1. Read this thread: https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WC&id=246581

2. Go to this site: http://beyondconvention.net/ohussain/lsinstaller/index.htm and read everything you can find, especially the Installation Guide.

3. Download LiteStep installer from the link above.

4. Read the Installation Guide again.

5. Install LiteStep according to the directions in the Guide.

6. Read the manual.

7. Read the manual again.

8. Read the manual again. (No, I am not kidding.)

9. Carefully begin using Litestep. Ask questions at the LiteStep forums. No, there are no stupid questions.

10. In your spare time, read the manual.

China♥Cat: have you ever posted a helpfull or usefull reply on this board? or is it just a playground where you try to be funny? just wondering

moshi, I was being helpful

no, you´re pretty much on the same level as Kona here. though he seems to concentrate on AMD/Intel or Winamp/WMP.

Oh Gee Thanks!

Also , Do not forget to go to the LitStep Library here and at the top of the page click on the "Help" link . That should tell you everything you need to know . Or do what most people do and forget Litstep exists .

brazil: unfortunately the links on top of the page here are worthless and have been so since more than a year (if not rather two).
better links would be:
website: www.litestep.net
download: beyondconvention.net/ohussain/lsinstaller/
help: lsdocs.shellfront.org/

China♥Cat: that´s how it is. you are ridiculing the hard work of plenty gifted coders that are generous enough to share it with us. and for what reason?

LiteSteppers are hard-core!! Lighten up people a little poke/prod/ or prank never hurt anybody *looks around* much.

I think what Moshi's getting at (and if not, than I am) is:
every recent thread regarding Litestep, seems to evolve into lighthearted babble about the usefullness of Litstep itself rather than focusing on the problems\questions raised.

I know it's not meant in a spirit of mean-ness, but it gets a little tired after a while.

LightStep freaks me out! I'm so worried once you install and run it, you can't get out of it. Forever lost in a sea of codes with no way out Maybe one day I will get brave and try it
Reply #14 Top
moshi, I'm so glad you decided to be a little "helpful" here by posting the links.

Phar0e, you are right, The words "Evil" and "Litestep" shall never pass these fingertips again in the same sentence

Purrrr... LS Rules!

Yes, Moshi... you are so very helpful... in your third post, more than a day and a half after the thread was started, you finally offer a few URL's, declare they are better than everything anyone else posted and depart the field. And in the meantime you take a few more potshots at people, declaring what they said to be worthless...

Hmmmmm... the thread I posted is only six weeks old.. and in that thread as I read it again are some of the same URL's you posted as being superior...

The link to the Web site for the installer is an active site with help forums containing posts as of this morning. The installer available was released only 4 months ago.

Every bit of information I provided is much more current than the year or two you claim. And it was all, I honestly believe, helpful. Please be specific and accurate if you're going to declare one of my posts, and by inclusion, HG-Eliminator's posts to be worthless. Otherwise, you're being no more helpful and far more insulting than anything anyone else posted here.

Hmmm moshi does this to other people?
.....and here I thought I was special

Shameless Design: what was there more to say? your answer in #1 was pretty perfect. nothing to add. i think you are confusing something about the links. brazil was talking about the links on top of the LiteStep section here (you might want to read his post again). those are worthless. not the help thread HG_Eliminator offered. you also might want to check who is trying help the people that are asking in that thread over there.
btw: Omar´s installer exists a little longer than 4 months.

China♥Cat: as you can see i did not do "this" to other people. Shameless Design was misinterpretating my post. you are something special indeed (well not that special, there is also somebody else mentioned in an earlier post).

Okie moshi, Now you're getting on my nerves! I'am Not, And I repete NOT on the same level as Kona! And if you say that again I will Scratch out your eyes!

you are confusing something about the links

Indeed, I did misinterpret your post. When I read this:

unfortunately the links on top of the page here

I took that to mean the links at the top of this page. As the only links posted at the top of this thread are in my post, I understood you to refer to those links as being worthless. I apologize for the misunderstanding on my part.

Shameless are you referring to my question?
Shameless Designs: all fine then. guess we all should switch over to a 100% concrete language as Lojban or so http://www.lojban.org/en/

carolelee: no. sorry. of course you can have this theme on your desktop, but that would require to build it more or less from scratch. there is no complicated scripting in the theme, so that should not be too hard IF you are willing to invest a little (or more, depends) time in reading and understanding the docs.

other idea: if you check the theme, you´ll see that it comes as an own distribution. so you could install the theme as a separate shell using a shell manager as ShellOn or Carapace. most probably you will get problems with the system tray (the tray module that comes with the theme is older than XP). so that would require some step-by-step-upgrading. maybe that´s the best way to go for you.

btw: everybody had this theme when it first came out. hardly anybody that really used his computer kept it for too long. while it is awesome eyecandy the interface is pretty unergonomic.
Thanks Moshi, you have been very helpful I'm not too sure how to build that theme from scratch(that kinda thing freaks me out) I will most likely sit on the fence a little longer when it comes to Lightstep
Reply #24 Top
hehe, yeah i knew it would be a complete waste to type those paragraphs

seriously, if you want the theme, then try option 2. install ShellOn as your main shell. you can configure it to give you a prompt after logging wether you want to load the (normal) explorer.exe or the litestep.exe that comes with the Turtle Soup theme. there´s nothing more comfortable than that.
if you need help after you installed ShellOn and the theme, feel free to ask.

ah ... guess that was a waste as well
No moshi... your advice is not a waste! I have to get off that fence sometime, it's just turtle soup I was concerned with(that theme goes way back!)I will install Lightstep today and give it a go(you made me feel guilty)and I will follow your advice on "how to". Again, thanks and I will call on you if need be
