CygnusX11, my prayers are with you and may your pets give you comfort..........bless our pets. Btw my beloved Jesse almost got smoked by a vac truck the other day(the truck went over her but the wheels didn't hit her!) The driver didn't stop but to my amazement she got up and ran back to me......she is fine.....thank goodness! She spotted a squirl(spelling) across the road and bolted.......man, that was close(border collies drive me nuts)

CignusXII, my overwhelming bout of life these days is that my boss, who is one of the most outstanding people I know was diagnosed with rather advanced kidney cancer three weeks ago. He had his kidney removed one week ago today, but the docs can't get him off the respirator. His blood oxygen keeps ping too low. So, a week later, he's still in ICU, heavily sedated, on the vent, and maybe only has a few months, of hopefull a few weeks of quality time to spend with his family. I've shed tears. I'm just devastated.

On top of that, the low-life excuse for his second in command is now my boss again. He's the same cockroach who suspended me for blowing the whistle on his buddy for doing nothing all day but surfing porn, at work, on a government computer, while dumping his own workload onto me, "because he was so busy.". Don't get me wrong. I don't care if anyone surfs porn till his peepee falls off. Just not on worktime, and not while pleading work overload. The story can be found here http://www.workingnet.com/thunderbear/252.html Follow-ups are in the subsequent two issues. Names and positions have been changed to protect the innocent AND THE GUILTY.

Anyway, I digress....... CignusXII, my heart goes out to you and your mom. Hang tough, cuddle your buddies, and know that lots and lots of folks here support you.

Dabe (who cries for you)

CignusXII, I can't say that I can empathize with you, but you do have my sympathy.  I can only try to imagine what is happening with your family right now.  But, you do know the wonder of animals.  They sense when something is "wrong" and give you extra affection to help you out.  Too bad people can't figure it out so quickly.

Dabe, I really like your "Pensive Zuki" image.  It makes a great portrait of her.

My family is being drawn together, as we speak. My Mother is becoming less responsive, and has stopped eating.
I feel guilty hoping it ends quickly and she suffer as little as possible. Her oncologist says, that as the liver fails, amonia will build in her system and it will have tha same effect as carbon monoxide poisoning, and she will drift off. Moving to a Hospital or the Hospice Center, will have no real impact, so she suggest we just keep her home. But I still feel like shit! aw crap...

I had a friend die of cancer at the age of 2 who was in Missiles in the AF... He was a medium hieght but extreamly built and cut which is natural for his family and Greeks in general.

He weighed almost 210 at 18 years of age when playing football his senior year.
When he died he weighed all of 100 pounds maybe...

Personally, I think your thoughts hold more compassion than those of others who would rather push it beyond the point of all reason...

hey, you all love her and do not want her to suffer, nothing wrong with that and I know it doesn't make any difference, but there is more right in it than some will admit, you love her and she knows that...

The same with my grandmother. We brought her home when her liver began failing and she just sort of fell asleep. Her dying was so gradual as we sat around her and as she went she began to smile. I believe angels came for her and she was happy to see them. Don't feel guilty, where the guilt comes from is the thought that you're not thinking like society says you should think, it is actually selfish to want her hanging on and suffering. It took me a while to realize that but now it makes sense. If you're thinking of her, you will wish her a quick easy passing. I'll pray for you and your family, it's so hard but think of your mom, it's much easier on her now.

I have a Chihuahua named Trixie in the pic with my nieces. And a Panda Hamster named Speed. And yes I was a huge Speed racer fan when I was a kid(in the distant past)! And I spoil the heck out my animals too, like em better than most humans!!

Sorry to hear about your Mother CygnusXII, its a terrible thing to have to go through as I know from experience. Just make her as comfortable as you can and enjoy all the time you can with her!!
