Im going to start making wallpapers soon, with programs such as bryce etc.
what sort of advice or tips would you give

Take your time to experiment and explore.

Gn0me, what I like is something colorful but not cluttered, with plenty of room on the left for icons. That's just me but, you asked.

Advice: Stay away from the default shapes and textures of the program. Be creative and try to generate new ideas. [Also, stay away from the dolphins ]

Tips: Search for tutorials on the net that will help you work with the program.
Check out the gallery of elite artists so you can have an idea of what can be accomplished.
