Upgrade pricing

Hello.

I was about to upgrade from single to multi with Start11, It is a awesome tool and was gonna use it on several pc's.

Then i noticed something strange, the price differences on the products.

You charge 136 NOK for 1 key
You charge 204 NOK for 5 keys
You charge 109 NOK to upgrade from 1 to 5.
It would make sense if the upgrade is 68 NOK.

This does not calculate properly and i wonder why?
Don't get me wrong but, from a consumers point of view, this looks bad.

Thank you for your service.

There will be overheads such as credit card fees on orders which will be a greater percentage of smaller orders which is why the price has to take that into account.

The credit card fee is the same if 100 NOK or 200 NOK. (yes, i checked it)
Don't get me wrong, it's not alot of money. It's the principle, the calculation don't add up and i wish to know why before i bring my credit card.

Hello,
Not really sure how Stardock come with those prices, but for 1 license at 136. It should be 136 x 5 = 680 for 5 licenses, yes? Not sure how to get the 68 per license. And, I do believe you get good discount for those 5 licenses.

Thank you,
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.

That is exactly my point. The multi pack is very cheap compared to a single license, so now that i am thinking about upgrading i sit with the feeling that i paid way too much for the 1 license.
1 license is 136 NOK and if you buy 5 licenses the price per license is 40 NOK, it doesn't make sense. :)

I think it is good to get this into the light to get a proper explanation to why the prices are like this.
I bet i am not the only one about to upgrade to multi, then end up not doing it because of the odd pricing.

End of quote

It doesn't possibly because Stardock uses a billing company which probably has different rates for different volumes of business and Stardock probably averages the costs, discounts, etc. so as to not pay more per transaction while still encouraging folks to buy its product. That's just a guess, though. I don't know that's how a price is arrived at. I would assume though, it isn't a random number.

It's logical when you see that one single transaction will cost Stardock less in billing fees than more than one transaction to do the same thing, but again, that's just conjecture.

I'm not speaking for Stardock, but rather as someone who used a billing service in the past. Stardock's situation might well be different than mine was, especially when considering the volumes of business, respectively.

I can tell you as someone who's been here 20+ years, that Stardock gives good, and fair deals and cares about and for it's customers.

That is duely noted, thank you for your point of view.

I don't know Stardock that well, i heard about them when i was looking around for a solution to my Windows UI issues.
I just don't think i am alone ending up on the fence because of the odd pricing and it would probably be good to have answers to this.
Been working as salesman myself and had to deal with these types of questions and customers myself. :)
