Someone 'round here has an infected computer

I've gotten a few from Stardock as well. I bet I'm deleting 30 a day from various sources. PIA >

ha. bet none of you are receiving money from bill gates!! i got the email this morning. he said he's giving me and ONLY me 1,000,000$ for participating in his e-mail tracking program. all i had to do open one little .exe file. BOO-YA!!

I had it too, I did it and sended him my paypall addres, too bad I can just get 750$ off it per month

LOOser! haha. i gave him my savings account number, they're going to it in by the thousands!

no ones computer has to be infected....

if they have listed their email address which is viewable on any site...

a web spyder(spider) can truffle it out and add it to a growing list of email addresses used to bounce email spam.

No one has to have an infected computer, though using PGP would be something most should consider...
public key makes it so you can tell if the message s really fro you or the person who gets it can tell if it is from you if they are in your mailing contacts...

Just mentioning it on the off chance...like I said, it's no big deal to me either way. I just thought I might give a heads up in case someone around here isn't keeping up with their scans and updates

ISP: BT - Spam protection at there end.
Mailwasher: for checking email (Always run before Outlook Express).
AVG: Anti Virus - For computer and email.
Outlook Firewall: For blocking internet attacks on computer.
Spyware Guard: For blocking spyware.

Spybot: For checking spyware on computer (Run once a week).
Adaware: For checking spyware on computer (Run once a week).
SpywareBlaster: For checking spyware on computer (Run once a week).

If any virus or spyware comes from my computer, I'd be very, very surprised.

Most of the viruses out now use e-mail address spoofing. Only yesterday I received a message from someone's server telling me my e-mail had been rejected due to having a virus. Not from me of course.

Sigh...I don't know which is worse, the virus sending e-mails or the spam from these ridiculous server auto responses >

It is good to pass the heads up so people keep an eye out for sure and would never fault anyone for doing that.

It's not me neither, but i'm receiving emails from "me" with viruses also ...

i've gotten many infected emails lately, including some supposedly from stardock, winamp.com, and from (supposedly) a member of this community. Virus emails are running like wildfire right now.

It's all annoying but nothing worse than getting an Email from myself that I didn't send!

Stumpy, I've got mailwasher too and I've liked it. Lately I've found that when I use it to check mail, I get netsky detected & d by McAfee in my temp folder. When I use the on-line version of my mailchecker to the junk, this doesn't happen. Am I the only one blessed that way? I don't see how Mailwasher can be the culprit as it doesn't open anything but there it is.
