Having some trouble with wallpaper changing

Thanks to anyone who's reading this message. Anywas, I was changing my wallpaper and I got an error message after it changed saying, "Cannot find active desktop html file" or sumthing like that. Now, thanks to that error, even if I only have an AIM window open, or even no windows open, I have a folder plastered to my desktop of my desktop folder and the normal XP windows explorer functions on the left(folder options, details, Other PLaces, etc), but no wallpaper.
Any suggestions on how to fix?

I have a screenshot of it if you would like to see what I'm talking about.Just IM me at "Hateforumsdrum39" on aol if you want to see a picture of the problem.

Try posting a link to the picture of your problem, as I have read and re-read your post and I'm sorry to say that I can't make head or tail of it

To post a link do the following:-
Place the picture on a website somewhere and type in the message box the full address of where it is

Example (Ignore the Space at begining)
Here > http ://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v70/Stumpy/Current.jpg

and it will look like this
Here > http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v70/Stumpy/Current.jpg

btw...i only removed some icons from desktop..thus empty spaces...but the cutoff on right was on the screen.

thats not an open window...thats my desktop not a wallpaper

I remember this happening to someone before, but it was long ago, don't remember the fix. Are you sure Active Desktop isn't enabled?

I would go to display properties, and the desktop tab. Then choose the customize desktop button. Then go to the web tab. Make sure that you have nothing checked there. I would also recommend that you only use bitmaps as wallpaper, not jpegs. Strange things might happen if you choose Jpegs. Windows needs to use Active desktop to display them.

nothing is checked...btw..It is a wallpaper sized gif. 6 colors at most.

sorry again for double post...I forgot part of it, nothing is checked in the tab ChasUGC.
I don't know...my computer is strange. My printer auto uninstalls itself, but when the computer is restarted it is installed again.

Maybe a few restaarts will help.

A gif also requires active desktop to display it, and the message you had seems to say that the file it expects to find to tell it how to behave is missing or corrupt - hence it's defaulting to a standard folder view....that doesn't help you solve it though.

As for the printer disappearing - I've seen that happen on machines, and it was almost always a precursor to increasing problems. We never found an exact cause, but registry corruption was the prime suspect.

k well the desktop is back to normal now...dont know why...a couple power switch flips did the trick

I dont know bout the printer either.
