Apparently, according to another thread of frustration we only get 50 megs until we cough up some cash. I wish I'd known at the start. I know what I really want now.

Still can't believe I did 50 megs in a dozen 640x480 bitmaps and two logon packets.

Maybe it is a daily quota or the system is sTreSsed.

Every link i Download link I click on goes straight to page cannot be displayed??

I've just been wondering if T-man couldn't make some kind of page that says something like *YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD STUFF RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THE SERVERS ARE BUSY! DON'T BOTHER POSTING ON THE MESSAGE BOARD BECAUSE IT WON'T HELP! THE ONE THING THAT WILL HELP IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE SITE!* for special occasions like this?

if the page cant be displayed its a internet/server congestion problem..... if u get a screen that says u have met your 50 meg limit... well then u have met your 50 meg limit.....

You know, I've been having the same problem for a WEEK now and I've tried downloading at all different times of the day & night... I don't believe this is an Internet Congestion problem. I've been getting the "page can't be displayed" error message screen... Nothing about meeting some download limit - which is impossible because I'm NEW! I haven't been able to d/l one thing. After starting an account I got the EMAIL from stardock and clicked their link in the email and since then... NOTHING.

Does anyone have a real answer to this problem?

Well, I may have an imperfect understanding -- but here is my take. There is a massive amount of traffic to this site. The traffic comes from all around the world, so time-of-day is not that much of a factor. Although they do have dedicated servers, the amount of traffic does at times get a little much. To be fair to the people who contribute through purchasing a product they connect these people to the dedicated servers through a process of cross-referencing the Stardock and Wincustomize accounts. The people who have completed this process are the only people with direct access to the dedicated servers. Wincustomize users who have not purchased any product, or who have not cross referenced their purchase with Stardock use the same servers as the general public.

But that is just my early-morning understanding.

New here (only about 1 week). I was able to download before I signed up for the account, then got choked out bye the "cannot be displayed" screen kill joy message. Then I signed up for the account and coudn't get access for several day, then the next day I was able to download about 6 skins. That was 2 days ago and I have been striking out since. I think its a server congestion issue. Remember: this is basically a free site and that means that a large number of honey bees are stacked up waiting for their chance at a relatively few flowers.
