Userpic help

In a few of the windowblinds that I have, the userpics are eitherwb4 files or tga files.....I have no idea what those are so I dont know how to use them. Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

Hi ya sugarpop,
This is gonna be one of the easier things to learn.if you have XP that is....
Click on start, go to control panel, scroll down to user accounts.click on user accounts, click on your account, there should be a selection of things you can do, one of those things will be change user pic. click that. at the bottom of the pane that opens, click "browse" for user pics. any graphic you have on your computer can be converted into a user pic by XP, simply by clicking on that graphic from within that pane.
Many of the wbs that show user pics specifically for their wb, have a user pic file within their wb folder. I suggest you hunt through there first and if you don't find what you're looking for, look for a wallpaper file and click it. Either way it's just a matter of finding the graphic that you like best with that wb.
Hope this helped. if you're using one of the older operating systems, it's a little harder if the user pic isn't included in the wb, and I'll step aside for more experienced skinners to help you with that.

Most of the skins that have Userpics, have these words in the file name in the WB folder. They should be bitmaps, or bmp files. If you are unsure whether it is the proper file, check the size. It should be 48x48 pixels. If the file is not a bitmap but, a jpeg or tga, then you may have trouble loading it. I suggest two things for ease.

1) Convert all userpics to a bitmap.

2) Save all your user (.bmp) pics in the default XP directory for Userpics. It is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures. Give them all unique names, before you save them. Don't call them all Userpic.bmp or they will be overwritten. Then, when you doubleclick the userpic in the start menu, you can quickly change Userpics, as XP will show the pictures in the default directory. Hope this helps.

wulfn1....I have XP and I tried to change the user pic that way but it says file not recognized or something...and when it does work, it just comes up as pink or purple....which makes no sense to me. I just downloaded the San Valentin wb the other day and its doing the same thing.When I go to the wb folder, it wont let me open the user pic file, it only shows the icon. It wont let me open it at all. The only userpics I'm able to use are jpg files. Am I making sense?
