im only doing this  to vent some..frustrations so i can just "let it go" on go on with my life like a normal adult. ill try and keep it short. back in the day i downloaded windows blinds.i had this idea i was going to get rich giving away themes i made and gave away free on a webpage i had that of course i also got for free. i did good and made a couple really cool windows themes, even had one i made be one of the free ones you got with the demo. windows blinds was pretty awesome but i didnt want to pay for the full deal because ...i didnt have to. i just kinda lost interest because, for a while i ...didnt have any way to even get online and no reason want to. i ended up beta testing windows vista on a brand new desktop totally raw, i got to do all the formatting, setup, networking, oh also the cable internet that was replacing the 2-line dialup...anyway. my outdated windowsblinds demo worked for a minute but i had to update with object desktop..i tried to get it all for free and actually did because stardock is a microsoft partner but...you had to pay a one time subscription for life to activate the whole package. when it activated i was only really interested in the object desktop stuff but watching the different programs merge into one applicatioin was one of the coolist things i have ever seen and i had the coolest touchscreen desktop that even today would be awesome. so....i paid the 49.99..and .....it was vista so that right there was a problem, the new computer was actually my moms government computer that had my now legal stardock software on it. i had to re-everything twice to use any of it and i dont think it ever worked as well as that first merge. so fast forward 20 years? and some of that being an adult sort of, and i want to download the objectdesktop demo because i think its just right for what we want to do...i end up, a couple hours later, with a couple stardock programs half installed/running in the background. the object dock menu on the bottem was just in the way of me trying to prove i was me. when i first tried my old log- in nothing was found. nothing? ok whatever..new account.....all the way to the end of the installiation, e-mails, codes. are you a robot tests, typing because you cant paste your password....and i get

 my email has been used before but theres no hint of any account/ download /nothing so i cant even change the stupid menu across the bottem untill i take care of the little pop-uo  on the left...ha ha ha if you notice object dock is the only one on the list that says open but...

....so i think im done..ii do feel better though so thank you for letting me post ,,peace and love and all that✌❤😎

So...let me see if I got this right. You're venting because you can't access something you say you received gratis some 20+ years ago that was on a computer which wasn't yours which wouldn't work on today's OSs? Oh...and you don't have the original installers for those ancient versions of OD...and Stardock doesn't supply those versions, anyway? o_O

not exactly but yeah,....and?....what do you REALLY wanna know?. do you have a question? did i insult anybody or not follow the guidelines or something? granted i barely even proof read it and do apologize if i crossed some line or something. it is what it is...a rant. just some honest thoughts, spur of the moment and the real me, i guess... i actually have lots of the same kinda crap all repressed and dying to come spewing out everywhere. we, society in general, try to keep it in check most of the time but i felt like i needed to let some of the pressure out before it ALL came out at once. i wasnt trying to blame anyone but myself. i wasnt asking for anything from anyone. i appreciate your comment, sincerely. i might sound like an asshole or. whatever label or group or .... that is not up to me: what anybody labels me as...its just text...thoughts and now also ...my reply to your comment....thats all. ✌❤

Did I read that correct? Back in the Window Vista days stardocks OD had a lifetime subscription for 50 bucks. I would be upset to have lost that too because you know they will never offer something like that in this day and age.

The fact is that SD doesn't provide old installers. It's up to the subscriber to save them and back them up, save the keys, etc.

Also, those ancient versions of WB? I doubt they'd function on today's operating systems, anyway...so there's zero to be upset about as you aren't out a penny.

As to why I answered? Most come to the forums to complain or rant about one thing or another: a malfunction or the price for one type of license or another...and frankly, I couldn't figure out what your problem was: free software you didn't back up or save on a computer that wasn't yours...so I tried summing it up and got more confused.

exactly. WB didnt work on vista without OD which i think was brand new at the time. i probably do still do have some of the old hardware. like the original vista HD or a backup somewhere...back then a 120GB HD is what came in a brand new desktop so i got another 120GB HD just for vista...moms gone now so alot of that crap is around buried in boxes in the garage. i have shelves of towers and boxes of laptops/parts that ..after sitting on a shelf or in a box for awhile, it might as well be scrap. youre lucky if you can reformat or upgrade...spare parts is all..data is mostly useless...corrupted/outdated or wrong format. i appreciate you're attention and the fact you are here to help people. i dont want to get in the way of that.. i like having these conversations with people and do apologize for useing the forum for ...blah..blah..blah. thanks for being respectful and all that...and for the record..i have no problem with stardock or anyone here the software or anything else. ✌😎

these replies just go to the post, its a forum but yeah PhoenixRising1 i kinda was for a second. i actually havent tried at all to verify or activate anything officially. did i really expect the new OD to automatically know who i was and just activate..well yeah..lol..and it didnt so instead of even trying i made the post..the demos are on my start menu but i havent opened since. i am able to log in here though so my issue maybe isnt even an issue anymore...just checked..the OD manager works fine and i have the option to buy buttons. i havent even started a 30 day trial,,i dont think..if i found my original activation e-mail and code im sure there wouldnt be an issue. 🤔✌
