Lots of bugs!

Not very impressed so far!

When I try to download new skins,
i get the error "wbload.exe has encountered an error" and then nothing, no news skins or anything.

Windows randomly 'unskin'

information for some windows can't be seen as the skin doesn't adjust to the size properly.

IE quits when I try to fill in forms (4th time trying to post this message!).

I hope someone has a fix, as I'm pretty pi**ed at having spent $20 on something that doesn't work!

Also, does anyone have an email for the guys that sold me this crap?

Thanks

Paul.

You have the serial, right?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?

If you need help, perhaps a different attitude will help, and I DO understand that you are frustrated.

No system is perfect 100% of the time, lots of programs get errors....

also, what version of WB you got?
I believe some of the later skins are not compatible withy earlier versions of WB's.....

and yes like wreck said some skins are not compat w/ certain versions of WB's too... (forgot about that which could be the issue) since there has been alot of changes made to WB's.

It's not like you can simply click a button and everything is perfected on screen just the way you want, you need to tweak stuff, learn how it all works together, then you can get down and do some serious customizing.

OK, I re-installed and tried loads of different skins but still no joy.
How do I find out which skins are compatible with my version of Windowblinds (4.2).

How do I go about tweaking?

And IE just crashed when I tried to enter a URL.

Has anyone else encountered these things?

What OS are you using?

Windowblinds 4.2 should run any Blinds, but may have a problem with Windows ME.

People are very willing to help you here, just be nice and be patient.

IE crashing is not an issue with WB4.
Never caused me any aggro.
You can exclude it from being skinned if you go through the applications panel.
Try and stick with the newer skins.
Most will be WB4 compatible.
Be a bloody good idea to include your OS version and some broad system specifications as well.
And of course, RTFM!

strange that I have never had any problems....

you shouldn't have any problems looking at that, try to download a "recently uploaded windowblind skin" save it to your HD first, and then unzip the file and grab the "skin folder" and dump it into your windowblinds program directory, restart windowblinds and go into "Configure Windowblinds" (via the lower right taskbar WB icon) and select the skin from the settings there and be sure to click on "Apply Changes" okay.

of course there is tons of ways to get things working such as uninstall, reinstall, do a hard reboot and restart the app and try different skins and play around w/ all the options and configurations of the program and things will kick on when 9 X's out of 10 when our stubborn computer decides to accept something foreign being done to it...

never had any of the probs you mention.WB works flawlessly 99% of the time.I wouldnt skin for it if it didnt.Hope you find the glitch.Sounds like a bad install,I would remove everything and start over.I wouldnt think skin compatibility would be an issue, older skins work fine, they just dont have all the newer features.

.where are you getting windowblinds from?

just tried a system restore. then re-installation sing the links to the .exe files in the email i got on purchasing. all the other probs are fixd, just have trouble with IE. Plus, when it isn't skinned the status bar sits behind not on top of the start bar.

I am liking the nice skins though!

Another thing...and I'm not sure if it applies to you only having the WB's app, but you have to access your WB's to make changes by right clicking your desktop and then clicking properties. Until I found this out I kept getting the "WBload.exe encountered a problem and has to close" prompt. And it also effected my skins as well for some reason. But everything works great now!

yes what webgizmos said it does seem to skin everything better when the program is accessed through a right click on desktop rather then the task bar icon...

For what it's worth, I have always used the Configuration dialog(accessed via the taskbar icon), and have never had any troubles. Can't see how it could make any difference really. Apply skin, is apply skin.

Hmm don't know really but I noticed I get partial skinning on my windows when I use the taskbar icon and access wb config that way vs accessing wb's through windows display config...
