Have a problem opening up Display icon in control panel

I get an error saying:
"An exception occured while trying to run "shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\desk.cpl" ,Display"

Can anyone help me fix this problem.

when posting a message like this, you need to be more explicit.
try to let people know what it was you were doing when the exception occurred.
If you give folks as much info as possible, it may be easier to get to the root of your problem, a lot faster.

Do that, and I'm sure someone will come along and be able to help you somewhat

When did it start doing this?
Have you installed any 'questionable' programs lately?
Does it let you in if you right click on the desktop and go to 'Properties'?

It sounds like your desk.cpl file is corrupt. It is very important to know what you installed(or un-installed) before you noticed the problem, or anthing else that you did. You may have installed a incompatible display driver. If this is the case, you may want to reinstall your previous display driver, and make sure that you install a proper display driver for your video card when you try to update it.
