Windows 11 file explorer tabs doesnt have background painted when in full screen

This is a picture of file explorer open maximised. I took a picture instead of a screenshot as it wouldn't show properly on screenshots for some reason. I have removed parts of the picture for privacy reasons.

Notice how the tabs in file explorer don't have a background painted and I am able to see through to the next window, which hinders my ability to see the tabs. I have played around with the settings and am unable to stop it from happening. This only occurs in file explorer when maximised. It does not happen when it is active but not maximised.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system

  1. Windows 10 or 11? And need its full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Groupy version installed.
  3. Monitor setup, Resolution, Scale Factor, HDR turn on or off?

Thanks

Hi Basj,

1) Windows Version:

2) Groupy Version: 2.12

3) Resolution: occurs on 1440p (2560 x 1440) (scale factor 125% and 150%) and 4k (3840 x 2160) (scale factor 225%)

Occurs on both HDR on or off

Hello,

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Is this a new issue and Groupy was showing this issue when you first install Groupy? What changed? Windows update, new software installed? More details please. Also, if possible take a new screenshot to show us those tabs with issue. You first screenshot is too small to actually see what is going on in it.

Thank you,

I would be interested to see what they look like when not maximised too.

@basj @Neil Banfield

This issue has been occurring for months, I recently replaced my laptop and the issue occurs before and after the replacement. Happened after a fresh install as well.

Here is the issue when file explorer is maximised. You can see through the tabs (note the Phone Link window open in the background) and click through them too (on the part where there is supposed to be a bar painted) to get to Phone Link.

This is what it looks like when not maximised.

Your Explorer look strange. Screenshot below is what my explorer look like when maximize. Notice the groupy tabs is on the Explorer titlebar itself. Do you have install any other 3rd party software that change how explorer work. such as explorerpatcher, oldnewexplorer etc?

@basj

I use Shell by Nilesoft, but I tried uninstalling that and the issue still occurs. I also use Start11, but the issue occurred before I started using Start11. I'm honestly at a loss as to what is causing this, is this a bug? I am making do by using it non-maximised for now, but I would like to be able to use it maximised.

I don't think Start11 will cause this issue. You should have a try on these two guides and see if it working without anything else running.
