Tabs keep opening everytime I open a folder

Back when I used Groupy on Windows 10 opening a folder did not open a new tab, but now that I'm on Windows 11 opening a folder does open a new tab in both Groupy and stock.

So I either have to choose between that or it opening in a new window; instead of opening a folder just opening in the same window replacing what I just had like it use to do.

This is legitimately making windows unusable to me. I want to control when a tab is created instead of them constantly opening everytime I click on something. How do I do this? How do i change it to act like how it did for me on Windows 10 and if theirs not a way its desperately needed. Thank you for reading

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure what you mean by open a folder. But, have you tried turn on this option in Groupy2?

Thanks

Yes I have.

What I mean by opening a folder is if I click on a folder it instantly opens a new tab, disabling this option makes it open in a new window, I don't want it to do either of those. I want it to replace the current tab I'm in with the folder I just opened if I'm going through a directory, this is how Stardock worked on Windows 10.

I want tabs to only be created when I click on the tab button.

Think of it like a browser: it has tabs, but when you click on a link it takes you to a new webpage within that tab most of the time, if it just kept opening new tabs everytime you pressed on a link your browser would be cluttered and unorganized. That is the current state of this app and stock Win11. I'm using groupy for productivity and on Windows 11 tabs are harming productivity because my organization is getting ruined by this.

Not sure if that is normal behavior, you're referring to Windows File explorer, yes? Do you mean while in Windows explorer. If you single click on a folder it auto open a new tab on that folder? If that is the case that is not normal. Usually you will need to double click on a folder to enter it and it will not create a new tab.

Please upload a video of this happening so we can understand it better. Upload to any video sharing site such as yahoo. And post its link here.

Thanks for the video. That is strange. Please try, uninstall Groupy, reboot immediately (important), redownload the latest version from your account page. Install it. Reboot immediately, retest and report back.

Reinstalling Groupy does not fix this, this is happening with normal windows tabs too

Try this. Open Windows "Folder Options" and on the "General" tab select "Open each folder in the same window."

End of xHybred's quote

When you said this, did you mean it also happen while Groupy was totally uninstalled from the system?
