There you go....two and a half years, approx half of your '1500'...but if you can draw by hand to an equivalent standard maybe I'll listen.
Until then I'd image you'll be the target of rebuke from a lot of slighted artists who provide these works for others.
'Those who suck' is still both subjective and an insult, however anonymous [untargetted] it may appear.
In reality, the wallpaper section is for wallpapers, not images such as mine.....but I use mine as a low-download example and because my 'finger-pointing' should be NOT at any other person's work but my own.
What you see in the wall section 'may' seem crappy to you, but it's only your opinion and not that of everyone.
If there were no moderation at all you would have seen just today an ample-breasted chick-wall probably created by a 13 year old, a few more blue swirlies and a couple of photographs that were violations of copyright...and 'many more' that made it as far as the cutting room floor.
Although the 'successes' may not appeal to all....[many, nay, most do not appeal to me personally], the ones you see are deemed to be likely to be popular with many....
I am referring to people who just put some sort of wild, bright streaking or blob or some such nonsense on and then name it something that makes no sense just like their background.
Those are the ones I LIKE. Abstract digital art is awesome.
These days it seems the section is more deidicated to "art" than anything.
"The prime directive for wallpapers is that they must WORK as a wallpaper, in other words the design should be an effective desktop background..."
I think this ideal has been lost in recent months, if u go back you will find they work better for desktops than the new ones.
Its just that this ideal has been lost with the lackened guidlines as more "art" has been acepted then actual walls.
Another peeve of mine( more me than anything and there probably is nothing wrong with it.) is that people can create walls so fast now with out much time and effort, I can point out 4 out of the 10 most recent uploaded walls and tell you what programs were yused what styles were and used, and almsot exactly how they made them. If the wall section is gonna accept "art" atleast let it be orignal instead of just a bryce blob zoomed in with a reflective texture. (i was once guilty of this so go ahead and flame me away.)
As I see it, it takes less talent...less skill...less work to get a submission in... Its not as admirible as it once was.
I personally think it would be better if the standards were upped...While some people will be dissappointed when they see their submission was cut, that will give them incentive to try harder...and thereby increase the quality of their submissions...and the number of downloads from the hundreds to the thousands.
I think there should be something done to cycle some of the older pieces back in to show people what the walls section should look like. Give them something worthwile to emulate
.I disagree...some of us use NO icons...so 'art' is fine,it just hasto compliment the windowblind.

but if they do that the msg board will be flooded with "why didn't my wall make it" threads
Also those of us who haven't gotten around to try to make walls would also learn.
Just my opinion
Don't forget to use the search filters. They help out a lot. Searching by date uploaded/ascending does show off a higher standard of walls ... although ... a smaller variety.

terragen is the thing that is below standards,
A lot of it is, yes...even some of the stuff I already have up...If I made it now, I wouldnt submit it...
However, some terragens are very high quality and deserve to be up, scenery or not. Look at Xerrarie's stuff...she does excellent work which deserves attention. Or look at Sailors' Delight, 13,844 d/loads. 'Nuff said.

If they are banned from the wallpaper section...then which category should they be uploaded in? Or are you suggesting that they are a 'lower art form'?
not abstract art.
Its not like every bryce blob is higher quality and more worthy of submission than the terragens. There are many bryce 'accidents' that are just plain pathetic. Not just bryce, Photoshop too...
Theres crud on both sides of the fence so to speak...Thats why I would like to have the standards upped a tad.

Both Bryce AND Terragen are capable of creating good 'stuff'......or more accurately, some artists can make good 'stuff' using Bryce and Terragen....and therin lies the rub.
Not all works created using ANY 'tool' or program will necessarily be 'good' any any sense of the word.
Many are horrendously bad, and stereotypical of a newbie's first 'wow, ain't this kewl'-creation, usually very generic and predictable.
However...
There are artisans who can transcend the defaults and push these tools to new levels.....and their works are welcomed gladly.
Just one more palm tree on an island and I will personally insert said palm tree in the artist's most accessible orifice as a constant reminder that these submissions give the moderators a correspondingly graphical pain...

Jeez! I just finished the Palm Tree picture tube for you mate!
Jafo: You are one of the better artists on this board and I am sorry if you felt insulted by my post. I do admit that I could never draw anything as well done as your red car.
Gak! The 'red car' is an Aston Martin ...... some mothers do 'ave them!
