Groupy2 - Grouping Issues

Groupy2 - Grouping Issues

Hi Basj/Team,

I have started using Groupy2 and found few issues as outlined below:

1. Browsers are showed in sub-tabbed window but it does not work for notepad and explorer. Screenshot below.

2. Same issue with the window re-arrange issue when grouping multiple icons (this was reported in another ticket with Groupy v1 as well.

Regards,
Sanjay

I am a bit unclear on what the screenshot is showing?

Notepad and Explorer have the OS native tabs replaced by Groupy ones which is why they would not be in a separate bar.  If you want that you can disable the option in Groupy to do that.

With regards to the Window rearrange issue, are you able to explain more please.  If you are using the option to show only the active button on the taskbar for the active window it would be normal for this to rearrange positions on the taskbar as you swap windows.  This is how Windows works.  There is the option to show only one combined button which would avoid this.

Neil - here's the simple explanation...

1. Open multiple browsers - all pages are grouped together (tabbed)

2. Do the same thing for notepad - open multiple instances of notepad, they are not grouped together

I hope it helps.

Thats working as expected then.

Your browser has its own tabs which are nothing to do with Groupy which is why they are part of the Google Chrome window.

If you want the same with notepad and explorer you have to disable the option to replace the tabs in Explorer and Notepad which is on the Grouping settings page.  Then Groupy will put its tab bar on top.

Those other apps have a second line because they support tabs themselves.  Those tabs are nothing to do with Groupy.

Excel does not so the tabs are part of the main tab bar as they should be.  No version of groupy combines tabs in the way I think you are expecting it to?

The basic rule is each physical window you group has its own tab in the groupy tab bar.
