Sleeping secondary stalls software

Mouse and keyboard input stall/lockup when secondary computer is asleep

I have Multiplicity on my primary desktop computer and several secondary machines, including a laptop.

The laptop is often in Sleep mode when I'm not using it. I want the laptop to stay asleep until I need it for something.

After starting up the primary desktop computer, moving my mouse pointer to the edge of a screen will cause Multiplicity to remove the input from the desktop and attempt to transfer it to the laptop.

However, since the laptop is asleep, this transfer cannot take place.

The desktop computer effectively loses all mouse and keyboard control for something like a solid freaking minute while Multiplicity waits to time out on connecting to the laptop to transfer control.

This is absolutely infuriating, to the point that I will often go to the laptop and wake it up just so I can get control back on my primary computer again.

This functionality lockup must be fixed.

Multiplicity needs to better detect whether a secondary computer is online and available for transferring control to.

It also needs to be programmed to only remove control from the primary computer when it has successfully transferred it to the secondary.

I know Multiplicity doesn't get many updates right now, but I cannot be the only customer (or potential customer) this very problematic behavior happens with.

Two things that may help.

While you did not say as much but the transfers to the Laptop sounds inadvertent, yes?  If so, you may want to consider setting conditions for switching:

If the Secondary is slow to wake, thus MP waiting on it (what appears to be happening), you can set a 'Hotkey' to send control back to the primary while the LT spins up:

The conditions don't appear to be helpful for my particular use case and habits, but I will definitely try a hotkey for switching back to Primary when it happens again. Hope it works!
