I purchased the object desktop. Doesn't that give me upgrade rights? at least for a year, correct? How do I download the upgrade without paying. I just don't see it.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. If you subscription for Object Desktop still active, you should be able to download it from your account.
https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products . Click on the View Individual Downloads and you will have list of downloadable link as below. All betas and latest OD software updates should be listed there. Should see something like below.
Note: please ignore the last red arrow.
