Wallpaper, a new art form?

Art's a funny thing. A meme for sure, that people "catch."

Personalizing your desktop, and especially choosing your wallpaper (sort of a "self for others") to see, really sounds like an art choice to me. Much more so than a clothes choice or a car choice, your monitor is a blank space, a tabla raza, just like everyone else's... until you choose.

I have to agree with Styl Skinner on this one - if it was about choosing then it would be not different then the before mentioned clothes or cars. Creating, is the ultimate form of self-expression.

Well, sure, the making of the wallpaper is the Art. I guess what I was trying to say is that wallpapering may soon become really popular, because this particular choice seems, to me, to be highly expressive. It's easy, and highly visable, and catchy just to do it... something like that.

Wallpapers have always been very populair, but gets boring.
Bring it to the extreem and skin.

Personally I would like to see some good DX designs. I am not saying that they all look bad, but I have yet to see someone create one that has a good balance of design and art! They are usually shining examples of art and poor design! They either possess to much or to little fuctional components!

Personlay I don't use desktop X, don't know why I would, my desktop is pretty complete, als don't use objectdock etc.


just windowblinds, cursor xp, sysmetrix, and icons ofcourse.

Raithe - Personally I would like to see some good DX designs.


This is something I am wanting to do eventually. Not that there are not some excellent DX themes, but that I want to be a part of those putting them out... Art and Functionality combined into a feeling of comfort in the combination of the two.

anyway....

Slight correction there Styl: My screeny shows a Hoverdesk theme - I have never an most likely never will make any DX themes (but then again, who knows, stranger things has happend before )
