Advice On My Computer Please!

As everyone here probably already knows I have a Dell Latitude CP Laptop.

My specs are as follows:

Pentium 233
128 mb EDO RAM
4 Gig HD
24x CD ROM drive, hot swapable with 3.5 inch Floppy
TFT 14" screen

The advice I am seeking is this:

Is there a freeware program that will help to free up memory every now and then? I have heard of such programs but I do not want to Download them unless i know someone else who has used the proggie and had good success with it.

Since I only can have 128 (that is the maximum for my Dell) then having a memory proggie that frees up memory every other moment would be a good thing.

Win 95 to XP is supported. I only have 256 MB of ram on my box. I've been using FreeRam for about a year now.

do a search for "Cyberlat Ram Cleaner". I can't remember where I got it, but it is really good. I use it all the time.

One way to free memory is to close down the programs you are not using.
All those little icons you see next to the clock are running programs that are using memory.
Clean your hard drive from files you no longer need and run a disk defragment every other week, this will help speep up the seek time.

The only icons next to my clock is Antivi (free virus program that I am tring, it rocks) Sygate personal firall, volume control, and battery status.

I have disabled EVERYTHING else in msconfig.

I religiously clean and defragment my hard drive once or twice a week and use ad aware and seach and destroy twice a week.

I use Cacheman, from Outer Technologies. It's free. It has quite a lot of options for freeing up memory, and on top of that, you can also tweak cache settings and whatnot. It's very effective. Runs on 95 through XP.

Thanks everyone. I am currently tring cacheman, and i have tried FreeRam XP pro. I like both but cacheman has more options. Currently it is keeping 30mb of memory free at all times.

anyone know of a good pop up blocker? I had to reinstall 98 and lost mine and I am looking for a good anti pop up and if possible spam killer.

Google toolbar is now equipped with a pop-up stopper, and it seems to be a good one. Also thanks everyone for the tips on this thread. I also needed a ram revitalizer. I downloaded and I am currently using cacheman, and it seems to be helping.

MailWasher is good for Spam email.  I use the Google toolbar to block pop-ups.  I like the toolbar because it keeps a search field at your fingertips.
