One of my fences has disappeared although I did not delete it. How can it be restored? I have restarted and that did not restore it. PC, Windows 10

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Open your Fences app and restore a Snapshot ( see below )
also with right-click on your desktop make sure Lock Fences is un checked ..

that worked, thanks! I don't see Lock Fences when I right click on the desktop.
Right click on desktop to VIEW then down to lock Fences ...
if you want Fences locked check it if not un check it ...
when locked can't make changes or delete ,
