Beta 11 will not run.

10 ran flawlessly. Uninstalled, rebooted, installed 11. It opens, but as soon as I try to apply to the desktop in goes non-responsive.

Uninstalled, rand the purge, rebooted, etc. etc. Took the bat file apart and ensured all functions ran. The file purges deskscapes 10 remnants, among other things. It didn't resolve the issue with the beta. Ran process explorer (regmon and filemon) and looked for any issues with permissions etc. Still getting the crossthread error. Uninstalled the beta, reinstalled 10 and it works. I'll just wait.

Thank you for the quick replies! Oh, and the purge broke autoupdates so I get an error everything I start Object Desktop now. I'll fix it during the next round of updates.

One more note for your troubleshooting. Before the purge the preview was missing when selecting the background. After the purge, the preview was working but otherwise the results were the same.

When you say non-responsive do you mean the desktop or the config app?

The config app runs, but when I tell it to apply to the monitors the config app goes non-responsive and never applies anything to the desktop.

When it goes non responsive, are you able to open taskmanager, find the Deskscapesconfig process on the details tab with the coloured icon) and right click and click Create Dump file and then find a way to send us a link to that file?

It would allow us to see what thread is waiting on what and further debug this issue.

It has been uninstalled. 10 works and I'm staying on that for now.

We really would like your help tracking any issues down and resolving them. We would be most grateful should you reconsider.

Neil, the one that asked the questions, is the lead dev for DS. Frogboy is a pretty big deal here too (he owns Stardock).

You can be sure he \ we will work with you to find the cause.

In any event, thank you.

I still have it installed and videos quit playing, they play for a bit while I'm still in the dialogue/settings but when I close it, the video stops after a few seconds...

My system:

WIN 10 64 PRO 20H2 Just recently updated

RTX 3090 462.59 studio drivers

64Gb GSkill 2400

And no, I haven't any codec packs installed, so if there's anything you need me to do...

EDIT: On a separate note, Frog's join date was the very same year that I got my first PC and connection to the internet!

Mine doesn't work at all either, just going into an endless freeze no matter what variations are tried and I have a ticket in.  No reply after a couple of days so it'll have to be a PayPal claim.

I think the beta should either be free of extremely cheap if it is everyone out there that is testing it.

Huge fan of Fences, so hopefully they will figure it out.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I wonder if you could also help us by sending the dump file as mentioned by Neil in his reply#8. Really appreciate all the help we can get.

Thanks

What freezes?

Hello im having the same issue with DS11 when using the config app on windows 11 and windows 10  , it freezes as soon as i try to change to a new wall paper. i can close the app using taskmanager.

But i can change the wall papers when going direct in users user or public /documents/stardock / double click on the wallpaper and it changes as if using the config app.

But it would be nice to use the config app.

Thanks in advance

Hello Thanks for the quick answer

I try´d the purge , it worked once then the config app froze again after that. not quiet sure wether it is a software, or a hardware problem. This is a fresh install of windows 11 Beta, every thing up to date including drivers, updates, same thing on windows 10. it might be one of the culmative updates causing the problem but cant be certain.

Desktop animations work fine when i manually load them, mention on earlier post. So it seems the config app is having a conflict with something.

Might been a problem with amd driver using the new

AMD FidelityFX again not quiet sure.

My System: Asus strixx z390-e Gaming

                   I9 9900k

                   32 Gb Ram 3800 mhz

                   RX 5700 xt Nitro

Many Thanks in Advance.

Hello again a quick update,

It seems to be the adrenalin software for the Rx 5700 xt Nitro when i go to manual mod, to undervolt the Gfx press accept the screen flickers quick and the config app doesn,t work even on reboot. if i go back to automatic mode Reboot the DS 11 config app works.

When on reboot and amd software reboots when in manual mode, it loads the manual mode slightly later causing a slight flicker of the desktop when it changes settings causing the conflict with DS 11 Config app.

Hope this helps.
