Conflict with Logitech Options software

Hey Fences team!

First off, I'd like to say I love Fences very much, it's helped me countless times in keeping sanity on my desktop.

I'd like to report a possible bug, and would like to send you whatever data you need to help resolve this. My Logitech Options software was bonking out (installs fine, allows login, but then shows a blank screen). I tried older versions of their software to no avail, so I went on a troubleshooting tour with all of my currently installed software. When I got to Fences, I tried uninstalling it, and Options just worked. I was able to confirm this as after uninstallation reboot, Options works fine. I reinstalled Fences, and on reboot, the issue with Options returned.

Unfortunately Options is essential for my peripherals, so I had to retire Fences for now (le sigh). Again, keen to work with you so this can be addressed on future releases.

Thanks!

I would like to ask you if you performed a complete deletion?Have you erased data from the Windows registry?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I don't have issue running Logitech Options on my system with Fences v3.0.9.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thanks

Thank you for the quick replies guys :)

@TaiFrai I just used the fences uninstaller direct from control panel, I did not follow fragments or used Revo to uninstall things.

@basj ohh this is useful. I will try these and let you know the results. It's really good to know that my case is isolated, hopefully I can bring this back.

Thanks again guys, will let you know how it goes :D

Hi @basj, I tried the batch file and reinstalled Fences and it worked :D Fences is running with Options now. I will reconstruct my fences and observe, hopefully, this will fix things for good. Thank you!

Hi Basj,

I was able to replicate the issue again, but I don't know what's causing it. This time I think Fences is also a casualty of the unknown issue.

Here are the steps I took:

A.

  1. Normal Windows startup
  2. Fences looks like it hasn't been started (icons are behaving as in stock Windows behaviour)
  3. Started Logitech options
  4. Blank screen issue occurs

B.

  1. Normal Windows startup
  2. Fences hasn't been started, so I right click the Desktop and Fences starts up
  3. Started Logitech options
  4. Logitech options runs fine, devices appear as normal

Safe to say Fences is just a victim as well, and the issue is deeper.

I will continue to observe, thank you once again for the help :D

Thanks,

Nino

Hello, I stumbled on this post and had the same issue a few hours ago. Options was loading a blank screen. The first thing I tried fixed it for me. I right clicked on Options on the taskbar, right clicked on Options again inside the context menu, then properties and compatibility. I changed for all users to run as administrator. I am logged in as an admin but I have it set to use UAC on demand. Options didn't prompt this confirmation, but I think it used to. Anyway, it fixed one problem for me and Options now loads so I could confirm my mouse was connected.

The reason I found this, and the reason I was trying to open Options in the first place, is I suspect a compatibility issue with Stardock Multiplicity and Logitech Options. This may have to do with Logitech Flow, although I don't have it enabled.

I'm using Multiplicity with MX Ergo mouse, and on the remote pc the scroll wheels don't work. But they do work if I switch the mouse's wireless channel to the remote pc. (connecting the second channel was when I discovered the blank screen in Options)

I'm going to try the fix suggested for Fences, since I have that running as well.

I hope this helps or jogs something loose for someone following this post.
