Connection between my computers

Hello,

So I purchased multiplicity on steam and I am using it on my desktop to use my laptop as a secondary screen. I tried connecting them via wifi, my desktop being on an ethernet connection and my laptop on a wireless one both on the same network. However I found the connection laggy and the mouse cursor very rough. So, I tried connecting both with an ethernet cable that started in my desktop and entend in my laptop. I read that this could improve the connection but im not sure if its true or even how to make it work.

Thanks for the quick answer, but the link did not help me.

In fact, Im not sure how smooth it is supposed to be, but it is definitly nowhere near as smooth as a regular monitor. So I was wondering what is the Best way to go about it for my usage : a desktop using a laptop as a third screen. Right now I have my desktop connected with ethernet and my laptop with wifi. Would using ethernet on my laptop improve it? Or like I said would connecting my laptop and my desktop with an ethernet cable improve things? I read that it could but Im really not sure.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

End of quote

You would want both going into the same router - not a direct cable from the Desktop to the second PC.

So I ordered an usb to ethernet adapter and a 1m ethernet cable of amazon and established a LAN network between my to PCs. Then, I managed to select the IP address that I set for the LAN connection of my laptop on multiplicity on my desktop. I noticed reduced lag, which I was happy about, but not entirely satisfied. I then kept looking until I found out that windows firewall could cause problems with multiplicity. Considering that I could not set my LAN connection in private on windows for some reason, I turned off windows firewall for all public networks and it finally worked. My mouse cursor was finally as smooth as on my other 60Hz monitor (secondary monitor) and it still is to this day (Im 4 days in).

I hope it can help other in the same situation.

Thanks for the replies too !
