How to set desktop icons at fixed position?

Hi,

I bought Stardock Fences on Nov 28, 2020

I am using Stardock Fences Version 3.0.9.11 with Windows 10 Home x64

I am using two monitors and whenever I power off (pressing the power button on the monitor) my monitor and then power on (pressing the power button on the monitor) my monitor, the desktop icons (icons that are not inside the fences) will move position.

How to set the desktop icons stay at fixed positions?

I have tried right click on desktop>View>tick "Lock Fences", but the desktop icons do not stay at fixed position.

Thank you.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't think fences can control icons position which is not inside a Fences. It is best if you put it in a fence and if you wish you can make the fences to have transparent background. And set a rules so that all new icons/document/files automatically move to that fence.

Basj, your method work. Thanks.

I wonder what is the purpose of [right click on desktop>View>tick "Lock Fences"]? If I lock fences, I cannot create fence by clicking left/right mouse and drag on desktop.

Can you explain the Layout auto-adjustments [On screen resolution changes...] 4 options what to use is the best to prevent icons from moving?

For "Lock Fences" once turn on/selected, you can't delete those fences, there no "X" on your Fences title and you can't drag and move the Fences. But you still can move icons in and out of the Fence.

Layout auto-adjustments is just as what is written next to those radio buttons, the best way to understand those is to try it out. "on Screen resolution changes" : This usually happen when your screen resolution, ie. playing game at a lower resolution.

Thank you,
