Stardock Central Or Component Manager

Just an observation: Since there is no more Component Manager I have lost a lot of "stuff" I used to have.

1. No TrayServer.exe for Object Bar.

2. WebBlinds is completely unusable because after downloading it (from Stardock Central) you cannot access the Internet (iexplore.exe not responding).

All programs used to work fine, or if they didn't, I could tweak them by using Component Manager.

Great programs - I will always be using them - but I seem to have lost some stuff I loved before.

I hope these little items get fixed soon.

If you have purchased OD, you should be able to DL working versions of all your progs. thru stardock central

Load Component Tray (if it's not in your start menu you can find it in stardock/objectdesktop folder)

Un-install Web Blinds and re-install. It will show that there is an update (014).Leave it as it is, do not update it.

This forum isn't an official support meduim for Stardock, so you won't get an official answer here, but I'll offer some advice. SDC installs applications into a different directory structure than CM did. It might help if you uninstall your applications and then reinstall them via SDC. You should email [email protected] for support if you still need it though.

I have stardock central, and any program I install or update from it work just fine. I think your problem must be on your end (not with SDC). Do you have the latest versions of your apps.? There are a lot of alpha and beta versions of the apps right now , make sure you have checked "show pre-release versions" under "view" on the menu

yrag, trayserver and component tray are not the same thing. Component tray lets you launch your OD programs from the system tray and notifies you of program updates. Trayserver is an application that allows ObjectBar to interact with the Windows system tray and display your tray icons.

trayserver is used in ObjectBar and DesktopX.  If you uninstall, reboot, then reinstall one of them, then you should get it back.  If you uninstall then reinstall without rebooting, it will probably go bye bye.

The components that are in Stardock Central are the same that were in Component Manager (except they are being updated in Stardock Central).  There is no reason that Stardock Central itself would cause a problem with the programs.

Gregory2001- if you have DX2 installed, load the blank theme and see if that starts up the trayserver.exe in taskmanager. If it does, run OB and see if it works. Maybe the .exe just needs a jumpstart. I would play with both until each ran on it's own w/ trayserver....

The best forums (fora?) for support are Stardock's news groups:

There's ~25 groups there with virtually every Stardock product indiviually represetned by its own discussion group.

Many of Stardock's developers are in there from time to time not to mention some highly experienced, long time Stardock product users who are very helpful.
