You can't link to your hard drive because your hard drive has no way of serving the image.  It will show on your side (since it is local) but we will not be able to see it.

crissy, you can, you do need a server, if you install something like xitami, or abbys and put it in your htcdocs folder, you can link it to your ip (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/myimage.jpg)
