Where the Hell did my icons go

All Icons disappeared from all my desktop fences after I tried syncing to OneDrive

from Stardock Forums

Was trying to sync all folders to OneDrive and all icons disappeared from all the fences on my computer desktop. Still have a Desktop folder with all icons, but would prefer not to start from scratch repopulating fences if there is a shorter way. Thx.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Fenced icons have absolute paths - syncing the desktop to OneDrive has your desktop icons at a different location, thus breaking it.  You have two options:

  1. -Stop syncing the desktop, move all your icons back to the actual local desktop folder, restore a Fences snapshot.
  2. -Keep it as is and replace your icons in the Fences they were in.

Many thanks for your quick response. I've stopped syncing desktop with OneDrive and tried restoring a Fences snapshot, without success. I'm now in the process of repopulating the Fences with icons- tedious, but effective.
