Does not restore

1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full version numbers.
2. Fences version.
3. More details on your issue, Do you see the fences without the icons? or No fences at all?

Could you just try to see if this option (see screenshot) is unchecked when trying to restore snapshot?

Thanks for the reply, the "lock fences" is unchecked.

By the way, everything works fine, I have the fences with the icons created and all the functions I know of work, it's the restore that baffles me. I've uninstalled, re-installed, and tested once and again but no restore.

New info!  Looks like I can restore the Fences, but any icons inside the fences are not populated. Also, if I just paste an icon on the desktop out of a Fence, this item is not restored.

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

There were reports of missing icons inside Fences because OneDrive Desktop Sync. This cannot work with Fences. Please disable OneDrive Desktop Sync option. And repopulate your Fences manually and most important to make new save layout snapshot.

After that. Try the layout restore again and see if it is working.

Hi,

I created a new Fence, copied three icons from the desktop to it, made a snapshot, deleted the fence, and lastly tried to restore. The result is that the Fence is restored with no icons in it, which is the whole purpose of restoring.

Please advise.

1. When you created the new fence did you copy those icons or just dragged and moved it into the Fence?
2. When you deleted the Fence did you "remove fence" only or "Remove fence and delete files?

I copied and pasted other items that were in Fences and when I deleted the fence I chose Remove Fence and delete files.

Note that the original icon from which I copied is not deleted, just the one in the new fence.

Okay, when you do that the copied icons files is deleted. So that copied files no longer exist on the desktop. The original files is still there. But if you restore layout. Fences will look for the copied files to restore into that Fence.

Remember, "Fences helps you organize your PC by automatically placing your shortcuts and icons into resizable shaded areas on your desktop called fences."

Fences will not recreate shortcuts/program etc.
