Sift Tabs to the side of the grouped windows

I finally got around to expanding my object desktop license potrfolio by using group.
I like the ability to free up screen real estate by combining application windows.
For me one no-go has been my time keeping software application. Previously I had 3 windows to the left of my outlook dashboard. (they are timers which i use to track time spent on a project)
I thought I could shift with this new option to a bottom location and widen outlook. (the titles for each project are not useful in a narrow format)
It is just not working well.
the aspect ratio of the monitor is not conducive to my way of working.
I would love to see the tabs shifted to the side, similar to some plug ins for chrome and firefox.
