Post Installation error on Corp domain

Explorer was not closed properly

I used to be able to run Fences on my Dell Laptop Corp Domain computer.

Now with some recent version, after successfully installing and entering the product license key, I get an error when trying to create a fence:

"Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly.  As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled.  To r-enable Fences, right click your desktop and choose Enable Fences"

I have tried every thing I know to get Fences to work to no avail.  Very frustrated.

When do you think there will be a fix for this??

Hello,

Right-click on your desktop to view scroll down to Fences

and make sure it's un checked not Locked .

Right Click on Desktop >> View   I see nothing in "VIEW"

However if I   Right Click on Desktop   I do see  "Enable Fences"    If I enable it, again,  I get the message

"Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly.  As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled.  To r-enable Fences, right click your desktop and choose Enable Fences"

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you have Forcepoint installed in your system? There is known compatibility issue between Forcepoint and Fences. There is a work around suggested by users mentioned in there which may or maynot work on your system : https://forums.stardock.com/480668

Thanks

Did it work before? What changed since recently? Update on Antivirus/Security software? More details on

  1. Windows versions. Please use Winver.exe for full version numbers.
  2. Fences version.
  3. Are you also running Corp Domain?
  4. AV or Security software installed?

Thank you,

Dear Basj,  Stardock Community Assistant

I have a Corp Domain Laptop, running Windows 10 Enterprise ,  and yes we are running   ForcePoint One Endpoint

getting:

"Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly.  As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled.  To r-enable Fences, right click your desktop and choose Enable Fences"

The forum you suggested above  is COMPLETELY useless..    https://forums.stardock.com/480668

Please answer these questions:

         Do you have a Workaround?

Is there any plan to resolve this?

Really sucks,  I've been a big fan of Fences.. but can no longer use it..

And please if you throw out any more forum suggestions, please read them before suggesting them

thanks

Hello,

As far as I know there is no known workaround for this. The only way for it to work is to make Forcepoint to whitelist Fences to do its jobs. But, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their input. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

No I do not have any AV or security software.  I did have an anti-virus which i uninstalled during my initial panic-just for good measure.

Windows 7 Professional   v6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1

Fences v 3.0.9.11

Everything in my world has updates turned off, so that nothing can come into interfere with my programs.

The only way we could get my PC to run was for my computer repair man to restore WIN to 9/14/2020 restore point.
