How do you get rid of one of those tool bars for explorer?

I just found out that it is spy ware. Either that or it doesn't like Google tool bar... or googles tool bar is *gasp* giving me pop ups...

So far I have been surfing and no pop ups yet once I uninstalled Google but I notice that this Zeropopup bar my wonderful sister put here seems to be doing something wierd...

Anyway, how do I get rid of this thing? just so happens that it doesn't have an uninstall

Joe, download and run AdAware by Lavasoft. It will find and get rid of spyware. Another good one is SpyBot.

The google toolbar actually has a pop up stopper build in. (The latest release at least does.) It's not responsible for whatever pop ups you have. Something else may be at work.

What toolbar thing outside of Google do you have? Are you referring to that zeropopup thing?

yeah I have zeropopup toolbar.

I can't believe this thing does not have an uninstall... and it keeps trying to make my home page something else (probably its home site but with a different name)

I was always afraid of those programs that check for spy ware. I aways thought they had spy ware in them!

I give the Spy bot a try

Look in the File Folder....should be an un-install file there

Yes, use Spybot search and destroy. Also check the settings in Spybot to find inconsistencies in the registry after it removes the spyware and re-run Spybot a second time. Eliminate that sucker totally.

Second, I would consider setting up a Guest account and maybe changing your administrator password. Guests can't normally install software.

Thanks guys. Thuis will hopefully put a stop to those pop ups.

I really don't think it was Google (although it started when I installed Google). I think when I installed Google, the spyware ran amuck and showed its true colors and popped up ads on almost every site.

Now, after I do this thing, I can get the real start bar back: Google!

Google Rocks!!!

Thanks for the link. I can't believe some companies would do such things. This is really popular bar with the kids.
