Fences 3 installed, but not usable

Functionality cannot be activated with the mouse

I've installed and successfully activated Fences on my Surface Notebook.

When I start Fences by clicking on the icon, a popup screen tells me "it seems not to be installed":

I've uninstalled and installed it several times: Nothing changes.

When I click on "OK", the program starts, and I can configure the functionality properly.

BUT:

Afterwards the desktop does not react in the supposed way.

The activation of Fences with the mouse is not an displayed option in the context menu of the popup window:

as if the program weren't installed.

In the Control panels list of installed programs, Fences is shown correctly:

What's the next step, to be able to use the functionality of fences in the appropriate way?

Kind regards,

Enno.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try the purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall using the latest version you just downloaded. Reboot after the installation. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Done.

Still the same system behaviour.

In addition:

  • I've also tried the different possible modifications in the emulation-settings for ARM-processors (because my Surface Pro X has an ARM-processor)
  • The entries for fences in the registry (contextmenuhandlers in directory/background/shellex) are also o.k. I've compared them with the ones I've in a correct working installation of Fences 3 on my PC. But however I don't see any fences-related entries in the context-menu by clicking on the right mouse button (on my Surface Notebook).

summary: also with these steps no changes in system behaviour!

On my PC Fences 3 is running perfect, whereas on my Surface notebook (Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (Build 18363) the configuration surface works, but the functionality doesn't show up on the desktop.

What should I try next?

Thank you in advance for your support!
