Complex saved searches in Groupy

Back in the bad old days of DOS, I used a program called Lotus Magellan that allowed me to view lists of files based upon complex search criteria such as file locations, types (extensions) and time/date stamps, combining them with logical AND/OR operators to build very specific lists such as:

‘All Excel files’ - Files with an extension ‘xl*’ except the ones in the Archive folder

‘Recent Wages files’ - Files with a modified date after one month ago with ‘wages’ in the filename

These saved searches could then be easily named and recalled which was really useful.  I was hoping that this would be well within Groupy’s capability, but I can’t see any way to specify the contents of tabs based on saved search complex criteria.

Maybe worth considering for future inclusion?

Thanks for passing on the suggestion.

I have uninstalled Groupy after trying it for a few weeks.  I gave it a good go, but found it awkward to use and unpredictable in its behaviour.  I thought at first that this was just my learning curve, but then noticed that when using saved sets, some tabs wouldn't always open (browser and application windows, for example), I knew it wasn't just me.

This flaky behaviour alone was enough to convince me not to waste any more time on Groupy, but the real disappointment was its inability to use and save complex search criteria in File Explorer (as detailed in my original post).

I'll continue to be a big fan of Start 10, but there's nothing else that Stardock has to tempt me with right now and my experience with Groupy has reinforced my opinion that Stardock is a one-trick pony.

Unfortunately unless an application exposes a way to determine what file is open in it (or tabs in the case of browsers) there is no way for groupy to reopen things.

The exception is when a filename is passed to the application as the command line.

This is not a bug.
