Application Will NOT Run

I installed this application for the first time today and it just doesn't work. I opened the settings and selected each Media Foundation, DirectShow EVR, and DirectShow VMR-9 with the Quality setting set to best and had NO success. The application loads the selected wallpaper media (Desktop Mars by Stardock Design) and applies it to all Monitors. This works for about 4-5 seconds before switching to the Windows 10 wallpaper desktop background previously set by Windows.

I am running Win10Pro (v1909) on an Intel i9-9900K w/64 GB DDR4-RAM, ASUS Strix ROG Ti 2080 GTX. There shouldn't be a performance issue. I am running the latest Nvidia video drivers (442.19).

Nice program if it worked :(

Please advise.

Hey RedneckDude,

thanks for the suggestion. I had Shark007's codec package installed. So I removed it (Shark007) and installed the codec pack suggested and rebooted the computer. I then ran Descapes and ran all three configurations mentioned in my previous post. It failed even worse. It ran for about 1-second and shutdown.

Thanks for trying.

Another update, I successfully installed Descapes on my Alienware Laptop (17R-5) with a second monitor attached (27" at 2560x1440 resolution). The laptop display is at (17" at 3840x2160). It is running Win10Pro v1909, It has an Intel i9-8950HK w/32GB RAM, and (2) internal graphics chips Nvidia 1080GTX, and Intel 630. It also has a second video card (Alienware Graphics Amplifier)  with a 2080GTX. It also has the latest graphics drivers.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try the purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/485954/deskscapes-support-faq#reinstalling

Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purge, reinstall using the latest version you just downloaded into its default directory. Reboot again. Retest and report back here.

Thanks

Basj,

From the sound of it you have an application on your computer resetting the wallpaper after X seconds.

Tools like ultramon offer this option and I imagine other wallpaper apps may well do too.

Deskscapes is designed to stop if the OS wallpaper is changed as it indicates the user has changed it but it cannot know that it is some automated app doing it.

Neil, thanks for the tip. It wasn't UltraMon but it was DisplayFusion a great tool for multimonitor setups and its wallpaper manager was causing the problem.
