Reconstitute Fences after Desktop folder move

I'm trying to move my default Windows Desktop folder to a larger hard drive but whenever I do so my Fences show up empty, with my hundreds of desktop icons floating around them. I have no wish to reconstitute my Fences configuration by hand, and Snapshot restore does nothing.

Is there a registry key or other avenue to tell Fences to treat the new location of the Desktop folder exactly as it treated the old location?

Thanks,

Bob Ryan

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

In my time here, I don't know that I have ever read someone trying what you are.

That said, icon locations in Fences is stored in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences\Icons

What you may consider doing is putting one icon in a Fence, see how it reads (the location) in the registry and compare it to how the others read.  If it is different (almost surly), you can export that key, find/replace with the new location for all others, and re-import the key, reboot.

I would certainly back that key up, as-is, prior in case this does not go as expected.
