I have noticed that moving icons between Fences is very slow and have learned the hard way not to do anything else until the move is complete - about 10 seconds per move. Does anyone know if this is a Fences issue or an underlying Win 10 issue?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try cleanboot : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot this will help to see if there is conflicting with other program.

It turns out I have somehow inadvertently copied nearly a thousand files and shortcuts into a Fence that normally has only fifty or so. The slowness was because Fences had to juggle that one very large fence.
