High CPU Usage

Hi,

I have been a purchaser and user of Multiplicity for a few years and lately the CPU usage is high.  It sits between 20-25% CPU on my laptop continuously.  Which means my laptop fan is going moderate to high all the time.  Not to mention heat wear on the device for no reason.  What is going on?

What process in taskmgr is shown as using all the cpu and what mode are you using Multiplicity in (KVM or seamless)?

I have it running on my laptop and use my desktop to remote into it and work on it (KVM?).  The process on the laptop is the, 'Multiplicity remote control server' which is running constant 20-25%.

Do you have anything constantly changing on screen?

It is my work laptop so all I am doing is email and documents.  Even when the lock screen is up the fan is going nuts.  Even if I am not connected it sits at high CPU.

That is not normal!

When not connected multiplicity should be doing absolutely nothing.

If you reboot and do not connect via KVM mode do you get high CPU usage?  If so what is using it then?

Nope, when I do a reboot and log in, everything is fine.  When I first connect, Multiplicity is bouncing between .5% and 3.2%.  I load Outlook, OneNote, Teams it all seems fine.  It works fine until...I walk away from the computer, my screens turn off.  Nothing goes to sleep as I hate computers that sleep.  I come back and log back in and bam, Multiplicity is back to high CPU usage and stays that way until I reboot again.

Doing some more troubleshooting.  I found that ever time I let the screen lock and come back it does this.  I go to task manager and kill the process, 'Multiplicity Remote Control Server'.  I lose connection for a second and then it must restart the process because it comes right back and so does my connection.  The high CPU usage goes away until the next time I walk away and the screen locks.

What version of Windows 10 are you using?  (Build number)

I am having the same issues. After the notebook locks the screen and I log back in, CPU usage goes way up. Sometimes the memory usage also goes up.

I am not a 100% sure, but the issue seems to be related to mixing KVM and seamless mode. After I removed the notebook from the seamless grid, I have not observed this behavior any more just doing KVM. My setup might be a little different than usual in that both computers are attached to the same monitor, so I don't really need seamless mode.

I have experienced the exact same thing.  If the PC that is being controlled by Multiplicity KVM goes to sleep when I walk away from my desk, when I come back and log back in the multiplicity remote control server process shoots up to 90%+ CPU and my laptop locks up entirely.  It is not until after several minutes of wrestling with the 100% CPU issues that I can get into Task Manager ad kill the multiplicity remote control server process and then the CPU utilization drops back down to normal (10% - 20%).  This has to be some kind of bug.  Is there any type of setting in the multiplicity client which might help to prevent this?

Thx.

I am still experiencing the same issue too.  After a little bit of engagement by Stardock, they went silent and nothing was fixed.
