Port Change Not Working in Machine Config

Hi!

I'm using Multiplicity 3 Pro, latest version, and trying to change the connection ports to one of my secondary machines. I've been able to change the port on the secondary, and can confirm the MultiSrv service is listening on the correct port, but following the directions here for setting the "Primary - controlling other machines" do not appear to work. I've added a "Port" key to the machine's registry config as described, but using Wireshark to monitor TCP connections it's still trying to connect on 30569. No matter what port number I set, it's ignored.  I've rebooted and restarted the service a number of times and no luck...

My next troubleshooting step was to change the "Primary - What it itself uses" from the directions, but there's no longer a Security folder in the registry under that location.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Why do you need / want to change the ports?

On the Primary, export:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Stardock\Multiplicity2\Security

You would have had to create the 'Security' key.

One of my connected machines is locked down pretty tight and I cannot open firewall ports (But I can change the registry?!?! - I know...).

Port 3389, RDP, is open by default. It was easy enough configure the secondary's services to change the listening application on 3389 to Multiplicity, but I cannot get my primary machine's Multiplicity to attempt a connection on that port (or any other arbitrary port FWIW).  As I mentioned, it always tries to connect on 30569.  My ultimate goal is to have my current secondary machines connect on 30569 per standard install, but this one machine's connection to use 3389.

I'll try the "Primary - What it itself uses" method to see if it overrides the connecting port as the next step in troubleshooting. If I'm understanding this help topic correctly, this should change the connecting port for all connections, yes?

End of SomeSmith's quote

'Connection' would be for mouse cursor traversal, yes.  For clipboard, there is another setting per the doc:

OverridePortPort2"="55"
OverridePortPort2 is the clipboard port. Again, use any port you like here.
