Constant Error PopUp

Hi

I have recently installed a number of Windows 10 Updates but now have an issue with Fences.

I am running Fences 3 with file version 9.5.1.0 and my O/S is Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

I receive the enclosed error every half an hour or so and can no longer right click and configure Fences from the content menu.

Error: Fences.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly )0xc0000135). Click OK to close the application.

I have also attempted to upgrade further to 3.0.9 but when attempting to install the application believes the Microsoft.Net run time files are out of date (which they aren't).

I wonder if anyone can help please?

Many thanks.

Paul

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try the purge and reinstall steps : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Just to be sure, re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall it, reboot again. Retest and report back.

Thank you for the reply and I have tried this twice but the situation is now worse.

I cannot reinstall as this fails with the same error each time, I continue to receive .Net Framework warnings.

This is a bit of a nightmare so any suggestions welcome as I now have lost all of the fences set up, cannot reinstall so am in Limbo.

Try to see if your system files is okay.

Please try the following:

-For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-For 7 Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

Hi,

I've run  sfc /scannow (no errors) and also dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth which completed successfully.

However I still receive the same error and cannot run the .exe file / application.

It appears to be a .Net Fraework error message but .Net is installed and fully up to date.

Since you are getting Windows .Net errors, see if the repair tool helps:

Hi Sean,

Many thanks for the reply and I have to be honest. None of this issue was down to the Fences Application. In the end I have had to restore Windows 10 back to early October (before several O/S and .Net Framework Updates landed). After these installed I had been unable to get .Net working at all.

This Restore has allowed me to switch on .Net 3.5 and 4.8 and of course everything seems to be working now.

Many thanks for the patience and support.

Who knows, I may even be a convert to forum support! :)

Best wishes.

Paul
