Cannot get context menu by right clicking desktop

After installing Fences, I cannot create a new desktop folder by the standard Windows 10 method of right clicking on desktop, and using the context menu item "new" to create a folder.

After install of Fences, if I right click the desktop, I just get a little blue circle that spins for a bit and then disappears.

If I uninstall Fences, it works again.

Solution?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It should not be doing that. You can try disable the create fence with right mouse by setting as below :

I had tried that already; did not solve the problem. I have Fences installed on 2 PCs; it does this on one and not the other.

Hello,
Please try Fences purge and reinstall steps : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Just make sure to reboot after the purge. Re-download Fences latest version from your account. Reinstall that version, reboot and retest. Report back here.

Thank you,

Need to know.

1) Windows version. Please use Winver.exe for full version numbers.

2) Fences version.

And please try cleanboot : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot

Try it and report back.

Creating new admin user did not solve problem in itself, but cleanboot with all startup items disabled other than fences did work to solve the problem. So it is a conflict.

Oddly, this solved the problem on the original user as well. Did clean boot disable startup items for both users? I wouldn't have expected that.

Do I need to restart items one at a time to find the conflict?

No startup items were changed for original user, but the problem is now solved there as well.

I did not reinstall Fences after the clean boot.

Fences shows up twice in start up tasks; is that because there are settings for two different users? I guess that is OK.
