After installing Fences new shortcuts to files (I download to the desktop for example) are place exactly ion the middle of the desktop. Because I have two screens the new shortcut is exactly where my screen edges touch each other. Not a big deal, but I was wondering if there is a way to have new shortcuts on the left of the (left) screen?

I would like to see them placed maybe on the left somewhere...
You should able to create a new fences and put anywhere you like. And set a rule for that fence that all new icons be send to that fences. That should help you solve that. Something like the screenshot below.
