Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Try Rebooting holding down the Control button .

This should start up without WB , and then try deleting file again.

Always Reboot after .

Test and report back here please.

Hello,

You can also do a Windows System Restore point before

the WindowBlinds install .

Try reinstalling WindowBlinds, apply a skin, then apply the default skin again.

Whenever there is an update to WB this is what I do: I apply the DEFAULT skin. I then uninstall WB. I reboot. ( at this point kecske040404 you should be fine if all you want to do is get rid of WB ) I install the updated WB. I reboot. At this point everything should be fine. Been doing it like this for a long time and have never had any problems.

The following is the wrong answer. I misread the question. I thought the question was asking how to reset WindowBlinds. Since there is no option to delete this post I am putting this notice on it instead. Thank you to JanOscar for pointing out my mistake.

I know the answer. I figured it out myself by using the Windows search next to the Start Menu and searching for WindowBlinds.

What you have to do is uninstall WindowBlinds (using uninstall in your Windows settings), but then you have to delete the folder "WindowBlinds" in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\"

When I tried this I actually deleted the "Stardock" folder in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\" because I didn't have any other StarDock programs.

Finally reinstall WindowBlinds. After I did this all my styles were reset back to the original settings. Yeah!

Also I highly recommend that right after you reinstall WindowBlinds that you backup your "WindowBlinds" folder that is in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\"

What I did was I went into "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\" then made a copy of "WindowBlinds" right inside there. It named it "WindowBlinds - Copy" and I renamed it to "WindowBlinds - Backup Copy".

Hope this helps.

No, that is wrong. For most users, I would strongly advice against it, because they would lose all downloaded content from Wincustomize. After Windowblinds is uninstalled, Windows does not use any information from that folder.

If following your advice above, deleting the folder, there would be no need for a backup of that folder because all that would be there are the default skins installed with Windowblinds.

@JanOscar Well that's how I reset WindowBlinds back to the original styles it originally had when I first installed it. I thought that was what this question was about; resetting WindowBlinds back the way it was when it was first installed. Just uninstalling and then reinstalling may not reset it back to the original settings. That's why deleting that folder is also required to completely reset WindowBlinds.

This topic title is "windows blinds how to recover original windows settings" - not Windowblinds setting. And trust me, your advice is not good.

@JanOscar Well my advice is no good for resetting Windows settings. But to reset WindowBlinds back to factory settings my advice is good. I guess I accidentally answered the wrong question.

PS When I found this forum page I was looking for how to reset WindowBlinds settings. Sorry I posted my answer in the wrong topic.

Sorry again for giving the answer to the wrong question, I made a mistake.

To fix the Windows (NOT WindowBlinds) settings I went into settings then themes then set my theme to Windows. This fixed the theme back to the original Windows 10 main theme. (This fixed the text highlight color and even the link colors in Firefox.)

I will work on reading forum questions more carefully from now on.
