Still Black Screens!!!

This Is Getting Old, Guys!

Sean, Neil, whoever,  I am not currently using DeskScapes OR Wallpaper Engine.

Maybe I should point out that only the wallpaper is affected. As if a black wall is loaded.

I am using Windows to change my wallpaper.

I am STILL getting black screens every time I load a windowblind skin.  Please fix this. It's getting very old.

Thanks Mike.

I realize this may not be a WB issue, but it seems somehow tied in. I need you guys help to clear this up.

Is Deskscapes still physically installed?

I betcha I know what's happening, when you load a blind it shuts down Windows Explorer. Next time it happens hit alt, control, delete and check to see if Windows Explorer is loaded. I don' know why it's happening, but it's probably the cause of the black screen.

Well, Al, I still get a taskbar, windows open, start menu, etc.   These things wouldn't happen if explorer wasn't running.

Ok, I thought you were getting a complete black screen as in nothing.

I usually lurk around this thread, having no real clue as to what might be happening but...just a thought...could WB's function to change wallpapers when skins are changed have something to do with it? A broken/corrupt link maybe? Just a guess.

Ross, I have never even once used windowblinds to change a wallpaper. No need when windows does it natively.  Now if WB can let me set a different wall on each screen, I might consider it.

But who knows what the deal is.  I do know that another rig I have with the exact same graphics card and driver does not have the issue, but it only has one screen.

That's the part that really irks. I have Deskscapes 10 installed on an HP laptop that's at least four years old. I can put up a dream then change the wallpaper to any image from my collection without a problem. I never got a black screen or a white one like S J N experienced. Why it works on one and not another is just plain weird IMO. Could it be something with the make and model of the machine? The chipsets, drivers, etc etc. Something somewhere is not playing nice. Is it only with multiple monitors? Do some single monitor rigs experience it? Can either Deskscapes and WindowBlinds be completely ruled out? I'm no tech by any stretch and this has me stumped and then some.

Ross you are exactly right. I have DS on my older laptop and DS runs great. My desktop which has 2 monitors and when I right click and choose the DS configuration when it pops up it's frozen. It won't let me click anything not even the close button. I have to shut it down by the task manager. I even tried it with one monitor.

What I don't get is if you don't have DS running and you change a WB why does that effect the background (or wallpaper). I still think it has to be with Windows Explorer not starting correctly.

If you uninstall Deskscapes does it all work ok?

If you are not using Deskscapes then why keep it installed?

Neil, I like DeskScapes (I have an extensive dream collection), it's just that I like WindowBlinds more. I like DisplayFusion too, but it is uninstalled, because I like WindowBlinds better. I can uninstall DS if you wish. Not sure why I can't have both, as it should be.

Not like I haven't uninstalled it several times over the last few months anyway.

For the record, I test WB skins for several skinners. So I see a lot of black screens. Imagine my frustration.

Ok, Neil.  DeskScapes uninstalled. rebooted.

Applying a WB STILL gives me 3 black screens.

Yes, the purge thing doesn't work. It doesn't even completely uninstall WB. Thanks anyway.

I still get a white screen when I disable DS 10. Never happened with DS 8.

Just had hard drive replaced. Win 7 Ultimate as on my old hard drive. New drive 3-4 weeks old.

Done uninstalling and purging everything including new user accounts so many times, 8-9 times, at least.

Ok, DeskScapes installed in an effort to become a dreamer, and lo and behold, black wallpapers again, EVERY time I load a WB.

Come on guys, let's fix this.
