Cannot find product code

from Stardock Forums

When using the retrieval form for my product key, I am only shown a key for Galactic Civilizations II, which of course doesn't work with Fences.

In my Stardock account, only the Galactic Civilizations II key is shown. 

Going to my order history page throws an error. 

I purchased Fences through Steam with the same email address tied to this account. 

Is there any other way to get the product key? I have installed Fences on a PC and I am unable to install Steam on it.

Hello,

Sorry for the trouble.

There is an issue were sometimes a Steam purchase will prompt for a Stardock key - it should not.  Use this to fix that issue:

I am trying to enter the product key into Fences, which I downloaded from the Stardock website.  Steam is not involved in this issue.  I only have Fences installed on my work PC; at home, I have it installed through Steam, which works fine.  I am trying to use the same license from my home installation of Fences for my work PC.

This is not about Steam. I purchased it from Steam, so I own it. I installed it on another computer WITHOUT STEAM and cannot get the license so it will work on the computer WITHOUT STEAM.

Yes, you own the Steam version of the product - where the Steam client is required to install and use it. When you purchase any of our products on Steam, the Steam client is required to install and use them.  If there is still some misunderstanding of how that works, how better can I detail it?

If you purchase a software product (not a game) from our Stardock store, there is no need for a client to install them.  If you want a version that does not require Steam, you would need to purchase it from our store.  I would be willing to offer you a coupon to do so if that interests you.

The Steam version of our software (Fences, Multiplicity, Start10) does not require, or have, a key.
