Theme Reverting / Font Sizes

Whenever I apply a new .suite theme for WinStyles, it automatically reverts all the font sizes for quicklaunch, system tray, etc to 'large'. When I rightclick the desktop and hit properties to change the font size, the theme just suddently reverts back to the default WinXp theme!

First, why would themes affect font sizes?
And second, why can't I access properties to change any options?
